The training workshop will discuss the application of patentability criteria for the examination of pharmaceutical patents. The objective of the workshop is to consider policy options and practices to introduce, consistently with the TRIPS Agreement, a public health perspective in the examination of pharmaceutical patent applications.
The training workshop responds to growing concerns about the proliferation of patents that protect minor, and in some cases obvious, variants of existing drugs or processes.
